In a major disaster, emergency responders may not be
available to help everyone immediately. Neighborhoods should
be prepared to take care of themselves for hours or even days in the
case of a major disaster. Community Emergency Response Teams
(CERT) are being organized and trained in Walla Walla County to
provide help when emergency responders are not
available.
CERT Teams are trained to provide
help to their neighbors. Teams will receive training in
Disaster Preparedness, Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical Operations, Light
Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology and Team Organization. |
The training is conducted in two-hour segments over a
seven-week period. A disaster simulation concludes the training.
Emergency responders such as paramedics, firefighters, police
officers and emergency management officials conduct the
training. For more information about dates and training locations call 509.524.2900, or send us an email.
